Christopher Peter Meloni (born Christopher Peter Meloni) is an American actor who is best known for his role as the star of the well-known TV series 'Law & Order Special Victims Unit. While in university Christopher Meloni has always been fascinated by the world of acting. He went to study acting at University of Colorado at Boulder. Although he's been active in both films and television, it is his characters in the smaller screen which earned him a cult fan following. It is no surprise that his characters have been able to capture audiences' attention by playing characters on both sides of the legal system. He was the voice of a serial murderer in his debut television show but later went on to play the role as an NYPD detective. Multiple times he was nominated for both the prestigious Emmy Awards, and the PRISM Awards. He is known by his blue piercing eyes, which have turned into a signature and helped in portraying tough characters with a sense of humor. He was named as one of People's Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive in 2006.
